Germ-fighting Routine When Cooking

With the world on high alert about good hygiene, it’s time to review our germ-fighting practices when cooking.

To start always wash your hands and continue to do throughout cooking. Then, wipe down all counters with a warm soapy cloth, which you can keep handy to wipe any accidental spills as they happen. Keep your working area clean and your sink filled, ready to wash as you go so that no dirty dishes are left to attract those unwanted germ!

When chopping and handling raw meat and seafood, always use a separate chopping board and wash directly after us. Take care to not let the raw protein touch ready-to-eat foods. When tasting your food to make sure all the delicious flavours are balanced, use a clean spoon every time. Once your meal is ready to serve, do a double check to make sure that the meat is cooked through.

Any leftovers should be kept covered and refrigerated or frozen in a Supa Mama freezer bag within 2 hours of cooking.

Wipe down all surfaces, paying special attention to your tap, cupboard and fridge handles, and finally give your kitchen a quick sweep before you wash your hands and retire to the couch!
