Reduce your food waste with this SUPA Veggie

A great way to reduce your food waste is by saving your SUPA veggie scraps and making a beautiful veggie broth! Here’s your easy how-to that yields around 6 cups of flavoursome broth!

To make:

  1. Place all your veggie scraps into a Supa Mama® freezer bag and freeze as you collect (these durable bags preserve your scraps and are microwave safe for later defrosting).
  2. Once you have collected 4 – 6 cups of scraps, you can begin to make your broth.
  3. Place your veggie scraps in a slow cooker (or in a pot on the stovetop) and top with water until covered with 1.5cm of water to spare.
  4. Stir in 1 teaspoon salt.
  5. Slow cook on low heat for 12-24 hours.
  6. Strain the liquid broth and discard the mushy veggie scraps.
  7. You can freeze your broth in Supa Mama® freezer bags or keep it in the fridge and use within one week.
  8. This delicious broth is SUPA for using in soups, gravies, casseroles and pasta dishes and can even be used to cook grains or make tasty salad dressings!
